Frequently Asked Questions:

Category: Wire Transfers

Question: How do I send a wire from FAIRWINDS?
Answer:
  1. A Wire Transfer Agreement must be on file to send a wire.
  2. Contact the financial institution receiving the wire transfer. Request complete wiring instructions for that financial institution.
    • If the financial institution is outside the United States, make sure to inform them that this will be an “International Wire” and ask if there will be a secondary bank involved.
  3. Visit a FAIRWINDS branch in person. We do not accept wire transfers by phone.
    • Click here for a list of service center locations.
  4. Request to send a wire transfer. Provide the other financial institution's wire instructions, your account, and the amount to send to a Member Services Representative (MSR).
  5. The MSR will verify the transaction and instructions and then debit your account for the amount of the wire and the fee.
  6. The wire is sent to the Federal Reserve, who then credits the receiving financial institution.
