Orlando, Fla. (Feb. 2009) - FAIRWINDS Credit Union is combining the celebration of its newest branch in East Oviedo with an environmentally-friendly shred event for the community to safely destroy old documents and papers.
The East Oviedo branch, located at 1425 East Mitchell Hammock Road, is hosting a grand opening celebration on Saturday, February 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The family-friendly celebration includes food, fun, prizes and a bounce house for the kids. There will be a grand opening special and a chance to win a Nintendo® Wii™.
The East Oviedo branch marks the 36th FAIRWINDS location in Central Florida and the 8th branch location in Seminole County. Shred Fest, a complimentary shredding event hosted by the credit union, enables residents to destroy sensitive documents and papers in a safe, controlled environment. The commercial shred trucks, provided by Crown Shredding, are equipped with a television monitor for on-lookers to ensure all papers are destroyed. The shredded paper is taken to a recycling plant and it is estimated that over 3000 pounds of lumber are saved for every one ton of recycled paper.
The 2009 Shred Fest schedule is available at fairwinds.org.
