When FAIRWINDS first opened in 1949, there were no ATMs or online banking, and rotary phones had no cameras to scan your checks. The changes we have seen over just the last decade have had a significant impact on the financial services we provide and the way our members use and access them. Investment in digital solutions
Because fewer of our members visit branches or use ATMs, we’re investing in newer and more advanced digital tools to meet your needs. Our online presence, redeveloped in 2015, offers a responsive design that works wherever you are – at home, on your tablet or on your phone.
Our mobile app is regularly updated and today allows for cross-member transfers, Apple Touch and Face ID and Android Touch ID, and Quick Activity options that you can personalize for your individual needs.
Re-designing our branch network
Beginning in 2015, we embarked on a realignment strategy for our network of branches throughout Central Florida. This strategy includes a mix of opening, consolidating, and redistributing branches that allows us to move with our membership and optimize the number of convenient locations necessary. As of September 2017, we offer 32 convenient branch locations in five counties.
A new service offered at our branch locations giving you instant access to a debit card to access your funds at account opening or to replace your card if it is lost, stolen or damaged.
FAIRWINDS Virtual Advisor
Have questions? Just ask. Our new FAIRWINDS Virtual Advisor will answer your credit union questions through smart speakers such as Amazon Echo or Google Home, and on your mobile device through Facebook Messenger.
New Orlando Magic Credit and Debit Card
FAIRWINDS Orlando Magic Visa® Credit Card and Orlando Magic Visa® Debit Card launch, giving members the opportunity to earn cash rewards while showing their team spirit.
New Deland Branch
Our Deland branch will move to a new full-service location right down the road adding drive-thru, additional parking and safe deposit box services for our members.
FAIRWINDS Online Face ID
Mobile banking became even more convenient with the launch of Apple's Face ID.
Sand Lake Branch Closing
Our Sand Lake branch will close.
A New Way to Save
Change it Up allows members to round up their debit card purchases to the next dollar and transferring that difference to a savings account of their choice.
New Support Center
FAIRWINDS Credit Union opened a new support center housing more than 200 crewmembers. It will be fully dedicated to serving members through a call center, tech support and administrative support.
Live chat through our website is launched.
New Way to Buy a Car
More and more members like to buy from the comfort of their own home. In June we launched a partnership with Carvana providing an online, seamless shopping and financing experience.
New Winter Park Branch
Our Maitland branch moved to a new full-service location right down the road in Winter Park, providing more parking, drive-thru, and safe deposit boxes.
Waterford Lakes Branch Closing
Our Waterford Lakes branch closed, with the University branch available to welcome and serve members.
New Orlando City Credit Cards
My First Home Savings
A new first-time homebuyer program, My First Home Savings Account, debuted.
Sanford Branch Closing
Our Sanford branch closed, with the Lake Mary and Lake Forest branches available to welcome and serve members, in addition to our robust online and mobile banking solutions.
Credit Card Self-Service
A new credit card self-service suite was introduced, providing new benefits and features like online balance transfers, online transaction disputes, and managing fraud claims.
Online appointments to meet with a mortgage, auto, or business loan expert become available through the FAIRWINDS website.
Mobile App Enhancements
New mobile app enhancements went live and included: unlock/forgot password and username, Pay Another Member (cross member transfer), Apple Touch ID enhancements, Android Touch ID, History Sneak Peek (allowing views without leaving the accounts screen), and Quick Activity options that you can personalize for your individual needs.
Oviedo Branches Consolidate
Our Oviedo branch in downtown Oviedo consolidated with newer and more accommodating Oviedo branch on E. Mitchell Hammock Rd.
New Consumer Checking Solutions
Our consumer checking account solutions were redesigned to ensure that you receive the best value possible.
Preferred Visa Signature
The new FAIRWINDS Preferred Visa® Signature credit card launched, providing concierge services, premium rewards, and enhanced travel benefits.
FAIRWINDS Online Touch ID
Mobile banking became even more convenient with the launch of Touch ID.
Credit Card e-Alerts
e-Alerts for personal and business credit cards became available within FAIRWINDS Online.
Debit Card EMV
Following the introduction of EMV Chip Card technology for our credit cards earlier in the year, chip cards became available for the debit card platform.
The Lady Lake and West Orlando branch locations closed, and consolidated with our Leesburg and Metrowest locations available to serve members.
New Mobile-First Website
The New FAIRWINDS Website was completely redesigned to include responsive design technology, making it easy to view and access fairwinds.org from any device, wherever you are.
