Orlando, FL (October 3, 2012) - When Phil Tischer, FAIRWINDS Credit Union's Chief Operating Officer, was approached to help raise awareness for breast cancer research, he was more than happy to help. When he found out raising awareness meant dyeing his hair pink temporarily, Tischer didn't even think twice. But there was one stipulation: he agreed to go pink if the credit union raises at least $5,000 from fundraising efforts through the month of October.
All 37 branch locations across Central Florida are selling pink bracelets for $2 each and paper ribbons to personalize and display in the branches for $1 each. Members and the community are invited to stop by and donate during the month of October. All proceeds will benefit the Central Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen.
The credit union is ramping up its efforts this year to support the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The FAIRWINDS team will be on-site at the race on October 21 at the Bright House Stadium at UCF, passing out pink-themed giveaways to runners and supporters. Guests also just might get a glimpse of Tischer and his new hairstyle. At the rate donations are coming in, FAIRWINDS employees and members are making sure that the COO lives up to his pink promise.
