FAIRWINDS Shops with the Sheriff at Back-to-School Event
FAIRWINDS CommUNITY Crew volunteers lend a hand at annual back-to-school event.

FAIRWINDS Credit Union is deeply invested in the well-being of the Central Florida community, contributing resources and volunteers to numerous organizations throughout the year. Recently, FAIRWINDS joined with more than a dozen other corporate partners, community agencies, and presenting sponsor AdventHealth during the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office’s Shop with the Sherriff. The annual back-to-school event supports students who need assistance preparing for the new school year. The annual Shop with the Sheriff event includes breakfast, school clothes shopping, and lunch, all while engaging with Sheriff’s Office Members.
Four FAIRWINDS CommUNITY Crew volunteers were paired with students to shop for clothes and shoes at Walmart on Rinehart Road, while Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma joined students and volunteers at Walmart’s S.R. 17-92 location.
While the shopping experience was the main event, and students acquired new clothes and shoes for school, they also left with an increased sense of confidence and self-esteem. This experience provided both a memorable mentoring opportunity for volunteers and positive law enforcement role models for students with the potential to make a lasting, positive impact.
