Mayor Demings’ Office Proclaims April as FAIRWINDS Foundation Financial Literacy Month

ORLANDO, FL – Mayor Jerry Demings has signed a proclamation establishing April as FAIRWINDS Foundation Financial Literacy Month. “The educational services and resources offered by FAIRWINDS Foundation and its non-profit partners have been a key factor in assisting our residents achieve financial stability during these unprecedented times,” said Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings.

FAIRWINDS Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that serves as the philanthropic arm of FAIRWINDS. “April is Financial Literacy Month and the perfect time to encourage individuals to take steps toward securing their financial futures,” said Elisha González, vice president of community relations and government affairs at FAIRWINDS and executive director of the FAIRWINDS Foundation. “We have a vision for inclusive prosperity and financial empowerment as we offer opportunities, with our grantee partner City Year Orlando, to learn how to save more, eliminate debt, build wealth, and live generously toward achieving financial freedom.”

As a double-bottom line nonprofit, City Year has a lasting effect not only on the students we serve, but also the AmeriCorps members who deliver our in-school model all day, every day, all year long," said City Year Orlando Executive Director Jared Billings. "We are so thankful FAIRWINDS Foundation understands this unique double-bottom line and has committed to increase financial literacy in our AmeriCorps members and the students we serve."
